If you Google for it, you can find many many systems on how to play this exchange poker with these so called “guaranteed winning”. Let me be honest with you – these are usually bullshits.

Let me go through basics. In Betfair Exchange Poker you have four hands you can put your money on. One or more of them(in case of tie) are going to win. You can back or lay on any of those hands in any part of the game – from preflop where you dont see any card to river when only one last card is going to come. Odds are, of course, regularly updated according to the game. There are no such things as fold, all hands play to the end and can win.

There are sometimes beliefs that odds there are offered only by other punters. This is not true and you will find it out very quickly. Betfair always offer the basic odds there, you as a user can offer higher or lower, but this is rarely done, mostly because of the liquidity. Like, 3 weeks ago I published the first article about green books and showed you some examples that it is possible.As it was the most popular article yet, I would love to expand on that. I created 7 easy tips that you have to bear in mind if you want to create literally “sure win”. Sure win is a moment, when any possible outcome will give you profit.

1. Greed is good, but be reasonable…

Live betting is always the case. A lot of my friends are used to bet(back) Under 2,5 (or 1,5 or even correct score 0-0) and sell(lay) it after few minutes. If you want to do this, set yourself a limit, you will sell it if the odd goes from 2,0 to 1,6. You never know when the goal will come and it may screw you up.

2. Don’t sell and bet when you didnt plan it…

Speaking again about live betting. Let me show it what I mean on an example : You bet 100Pounds on Under 1,5 @2,00(decimal). The current score is 0-0. Only few minutes after that first goal is scored and the odd goes up (2,7 or even 3,2).  You are scared, so to save at least some money, you will lay it at 3,00 for 100 pounds. So now if it ends Under 1,5 you didnt win anything and if it is Over 1,5 you lost  100Pounds. So you have not sure win, but sure loss. This is usually not a good idea to do.

3. Limit your mind…

If you have 100 pounds on your account, don’t put all of it on one market, ideally not even in two of them. This way if you loss one, you can play again and win the money back without new deposits. Also, this is good against any gambling addictions and thins kind of stuff.

4. Go with insights

Very good way to make profit on sure wins, is to create a green book on a market that you know something about. All you need is to read some forums or match previews – Bettingadvice.com, Worldpicks.eu, Punterslounge.co.uk . If you read fast enough, you can read info about new injuries and news from upcoming events. If new injuries were published in last minutes in home team, it is more than probable that the odd will rise, therefor you should lay and back just few minutes afterwards.

5. Speculate

There are always some rumours about match fixing and various unclear methods… You can always use this to your advantage, the same way as in fourt point. If some info about fixed outcome is published, dont worry to back it, the odd will go down. Even if it is not true, you can sell it just an hour before the match starts. I know some people publishing this info just to move the odd. You dont need to do that, just go with them and use them.

6. Understand to basics to advance

Of course you need to know that live betting takes even 10 seconds till your bet is submitted. You should know what back and lay means, you should have profit and loss ticked as showed on the picture. You should know that you can offer low odds even if it is not in the offer immediately.

7. Dont worry about new markets

When it comes to Sports Betting there are some toughts about it. Some say value betting is impossible in Betfair. That when it comes to Betfair the odd is what they call fair. Therefor, you can not find a value there. That is true.

On the other hand, when you are betting with BetFair, you can get the biggest odd available online. If you read my last article you already know why. Simply, if you find a bigger odd somewhere else, you can bet it there and sell it on Betfair and you have sure win. It’s that easy.

When you start with this arbitrage betting you have to be prepared for odds movement and act quickly. Also you have to check what limits are there in bookmaker and also in Betfair.

Of course, as Betfair is a betting exchange you can not place a combo with those odds. That was a problem and for a lot of punters used to standard betting. Therefor Betfair came up also with multiples. So this is not the case anymore, the odds there are logically a bit lower.

As odds in Betfair are offered also by people, you have to accept that liquidity can be different. While betting on huge markets like Premierleague or Grand slams have millions of pounds in liquidity and you are not limited. When it comes to smaller leagues in various sports, you may have problems with limits. Of course, those limits are still similar to standard bookmakers.

These are just few toughts about Betfair and I will surely write more about it.

When it comes to calculating odds the basic stuff is Payout. Simple example#1: Two way market odds 1,9 and 1,9 if there is 100Pounds on 1 and 100Pounds on 2 – the payout is 190Eur and stakes were 200Euros. This is a payout of 95%. For highest payouts are usually known Asian bookies, betting exchanges and from classical betting offices for example Pinnacle.

Two way outcome markets

Betting exchanges works in different way. You dont bet against them. In the first example it’s clear that the profit for bookies are 10Eur. But in Betfair it is different. You bet against other users and they dont need this kind of profit. They take their profit from the winning one. If the first outcome was correct they will take from the winning 90Eur for example 90Cents(this number depends on market, betfair holidays, betfair points and other stuff).

So Betfair does not limit tipsters when it comes to offering odds and therefor there is the possibility of having higher odds for different markets. Of course, the payout is never higher then 100%, otherwise you can bet all of the outcomes and you are still a winner. For example if the odds were 2,05 against 2,05, you can bet 100Pounds on both of the outcomes and no matter what the result is, you won 5 Pounds. This is also the principle of Green Books for which Betfair is awesome.

Odds on Betfair are really higher, when it comes to payout. But it forbids you from betting multiples and if you bet 100Pounds on 1,9 in Bwin you can win 90Pounds. If you bet 100Pounds on 1,9 in Betfair you can win 89Pounds. But the odd wont be 1,9, but 1,95

Most of the people will tell you that BetFair Exchange Games are something you really can not win anything at. Well they are wrong. I personally played Hold’em exchange game several times and I made a good profit. And as a proof I recorded a short video. Youtube allows you to record only 10 minutes of video what kind of limited me, but here it goes.

What is sure win in betting? Well, lets make an easy example – there is a match with two outcomes. For example a tennis match between Federer and Nadal. Federer is a fauvorite there with odd 1.8(decimal). You can bet Nadal with 2.1. You believe that Nadal is the one who is going to win so you place a 100 Pounds bet on Nadal, so you can win 110GBP. Later some info comes out – for example that Federer has some health condition. Most people think:”Hmm, so he probably wont win,” and the odds on Federer goes up to lets say 2.1. That means now if you bet 100Pounds on Federer you can win 110GPB. So, now if Federer win you won 110GBP and lost 100GBP for your bet on Nadal. If Nadal wins, you got 110GBP and lost 100GBP for your bet on Federer. Either way you won 10GBP. That’s a sure win.

Second example of green book

: Well let’s go a bit further. We can create sure bets also on live betting. Easily. Let’s still go with a two way market – market with two possible outcomes. Match between Chelsea and Real Madrid – Championsh league. The market will be Over/Under 1.5 goals. Well, its an important and attractive match of two attack-based teams, so people will expect that many goals will be scored. So lets say the odds for Over 1.5  is 1,4(decimal) and Under 1.5 is 3. We believe that these teams will be afraid to play open soccer so we place a bet on Under – 100 Pounds, so we can win 200Pounds. The match is played and after 30 minutes, what is one third of the game, the score is stil 0-0. Now more people believe there wont really be many goals in this match. So the odds are following – 1,95 on Over 1,5 and 2.01 on Under 1,5. We can now bet Over at 1,95 for 150Pounds.

If the result is Over 1,5: Winnings are 142,5GPB and lost from Under 1,5 is 100GBP = +42,5GBP

If the result is Under 1,5: Winnigs are 200GBP from the bet and the lost from Over 1,5 is 100GBP = +100GBP.

It may sounds complicated – but it is absolutely not. We simply bet on one outcome and when the situation is different, we bet on the other outcome – or simply lay that one and we got sure win or so called green book.

And here we go, I said lay. When we speak about sure bets and green books, Betfair go further. Betfair is a betting exchange. You can read more about principles of betting exchange in this BBC article. The basic principle is that you can bet/back one outcome when you want to place a bet on it or you can lay that outcome if you want to place a bet against it. If you lay an outcome, all of the other outcomes are winning for you. And that’s huge.

Betfair what-if figure - lay

Let’s imagine a market with more possible outcomes.

For example an F1 race. Hamilton earned pole position so he is the favuvorite. The odd is 2 for his win. So we lay this odd for let’s say 100 Pounds. This way we actually offered Betfair users to place a bet – back on Hamilton for 100 Pounds(or part of it) with odd 2(decimal). So if he stakes 100Pounds and Hamilton wins, we have to give him 100Pounds. But if someone else is going to win the race – he has to give us 100 Pounds.  The race starts and Hamilton screws the start. He is sixth. The odd immediately changed – right now there is odd 3 for Hamilton. So we back this stake right now for 80Pounds. So the possible outcomes are following:

If Hamilton wins – we won the bet 80Pounds with odd 3 on him so we win 160Pounds. We offered to other guy, by the lay we placed, 100Pounds win if Hamilton wins. So we got 60Pounds of winnings.

If other driver wins - we lost our 80 Pounds bet on Hamilton, but we won 100Pounds from the lay we offered. So we got 20Pounds of winnings.

And that’s a green book – you win no matter what outcome occurs.

Few more tips for working on green books in Betfair:

1/Tick all of the options when it comes to market. “Display “what if” figure” will show you, how much will you win or lose if you place this bet. “Show Profit and Loss” will show you how much are you winning or losing right now.

2/When betting on live betting, watch the match also on Bwin live betting for example. They many times provide you with exact time of the match and you can also see some odd movements there.

3/Do not fall for your emotions. This is what differenciate amateurs and pro-s. If you lost, dont bet all of your money on one market immediately. Think before you bet. Dont bet for too long, take a break. Open a windows so you have some fresh air, have a glass of water. Have a mobile next to you, so something can interupt you and get you back to reality.

I will mention just the roullete with no zero. Therefor – there is higher chance of you winning. When you stake in normal roullete (with the presence of zero) on black you have 48.5% chance of winning. Here you have 50%! The number seems small, but mathematically it is very important. Also practicly – it means you are going to statistically win from 100 games – three more games than in normal roullete.
